24 HOURS IN BERLIN

A few weeks ago I went to Berlin with Wenly and since she told me that she was planning to go I told her that I was in.

The trip was a total low cost, the hotel was simple and comfortable with 4 beds for 2 people and the flight was a Ryanair economic flight that we had booked three months in advance (you have to plan it with a lot of time in advance so that everything is cheaper).

Berlin is a city that surprises you in every way, since you walk around, you feel its history, its art in the streets and the corners, the uncertain climate of autumn, an experience that let you with beautiful memories.

The weather was fantastic, it wasn´t that cold , approximately between 10º and 6º, sometimes cloudy and rainy, but this didn´t stop our trip. We had just 24 hours to get to know Berlin and leave us with beautiful memories, starting from its delicious food, its sights, its bars, its local people.

TRIP TIPS

  1. Plan your route before you go so that you have everything under control and you can take advantage of the day.
  2. You have to wake up early to take advantage of the staying, and especially in winter as the sun sets at approximately 4:30p.m.
  3. Check in advance the weather of the city so you can know what clothes you need to pick to be able to visit all different places.
  4. The daily public transport ticket costs € 7.70 and also includes transfer to Berlin-Schönefeld Airport.
  5. In Berlin, people used to have dinner early, around 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., so if you are used to have dinner after 9:00 p.m. you may have trouble finding a place as some kitchens close at that time and you may have to choose out of some more turistic restaurants that are not that recommended as the local gastronomy. (Google maps helps a lot)
  6. It´s good that you add to your vocabulary some greetings in German (such as Danke, Bitte, Morgen, Tschüss!), people really appreciate it.
  7. And finally enjoy your trip to the fullest.

WHAT TO SEE IN BERLIN

Now, I shared with you some pics of the most popular places in Berlin that you should see on your visit to this city.

BREAKFAST

We woke up early and we had a quick breakfast. We were already on our way to the Brandenburg Gate when we found this cafe called Kamps Backstube located in Friedrichstr. 186, 10117 Berlin, Germany; the breakfast was delicious and the price was reasonable of everything we have eaten, its 100% recommended.

LUNCH

We were seeing the Berlin Cathedral, but its time for lunch and the belly knows it. Nearby, you can find Bandy’s Currywurst, located at Karl Liebknecht-Str. 1, Mitte, 10178 Berlin, Germany, a fast food restaurant with specialty on currywurst and we couldn´t leave Berlin without trying it, the price with beer included it´s 10€.

DINNER

Once we had finished touring the entire center of Berlin we went to the hotel  to rest a bit and then we went to dinner at a local restaurant in the city, we searched on google maps which restaurant was close to us and that opens on Sunday for dinner (at 7:30 p.m as I told on the tips). We chose the Haus Berlin Restaurant which is located in Strausberger Pl. 1, 10243 Berlin, Germany, we´re very happy with it. The prices are very affordable and you can pay an average of €25 for appetizer, main dish, beer and dessert. For me this restaurant was fantastic and I truly recommend it.

I hope you like this guide and that it will be useful if you are planning to visit Berlin soon. Berlin is full of extraordinary corners with things to see and enjoy. However, be sure to find information before you go, as much as you can, so that you can take full advantage of your trip.

Hugs!
